What An Automotive Technician Does

• One of your key tasks will be receiving repair orders and working on customers’ automobiles. You first receive orders from the dispatcher and take the car noted to the stall area for any needed work.
• Once you have a car properly positioned for repairs you perform the work as outlined in the work order following dealership and Kia factory standards for performance. During the servicing and repair process, you locate the causes for any issues or malfunction and perform any needed repairs as authorized. If you discovered additional work is needed, listed work is not needed, or repairs will take longer than expected reach out to the service advisor.
• While working an automobile if you need parts our part department can provide the parts you need to complete repairs. Note that if the job is under warranty (or a customer makes this request) you should properly tag, save, and turn in any used parts.
• Once your repairs are finished document the work done, quality-check any repairs, and take the car out for road testing to ensure the reported issue has been successfully repaired.
• You’ll also need to keep your skills current so be sure to stay aware of factory technical bulletins and attend any required training classes.
• Finally, you’ll ensure customers’ automobiles are kept clean, that you’re following the proper federal, state, and local laws and guidelines for repair work, and following any safety rules policies, and procedures as outlined.
